The college football world has witnessed Alabama QB Jalen Milroe make great progress through the course of this season. Tim Tebow and Roman Harper have noticed that growth too from the Crimson Tide’s quarterback.

Tebow and Harper spoke highly of Milroe’s development from this season on ‘The Paul Finebaum Show’ on Friday. Tebow identified a few tweaks in the ‘Bama offense that have allowed Milroe to be at his best as a passer.

“There is no doubt about it – he is doing a lot of things much better,” said Tebow. “He still has that crazy athleticism, he can take off, and he’s one of the best guys on the field. But I really love how he’s giving his receivers, on one-on-one situations, a chance to make big, big plays, especially Jermaine Burton who has amazing body control.

“I love the double moves that Tommy Rees is calling. He’s getting one or two every game. He got multiple against A&M, he got multiple last week against Arkansas,” Tebow continued. “I really think that’s where this Alabama offense is excelling.”

While Harper agreed with Tebow about the routes, his point was more aimed toward Milroe. Based on what he had seen from film, he believes Milroe to be a completely different player, or at least one that’s progressing very well, than the one we saw earlier this fall.

“Versus Texas A&M, I saw (Milroe) do a play that he couldn’t make before. He looked the safety off to his right, then came back late to Isaiah Bond on a deep touchdown pass. That was something that I thought, ‘Okay, that was a tendency breaker’. That’s him showing me that he has improved,” Harper explained. “Before that play? He was just a one-look quarterback. If he looked to his right? The safety could go right.

“(Milroe) is taking that next step,” Harper added. “I’m seeing an improvement. I like what I’m seeing.”

Over his first two games, Milroe’s dual-threat ability leaned more on his legs than his arm. That has shifted over the past few weeks as he has averaged 237 yards per game to go with six touchdowns and only two picks on 68.9% completion over the last four games.

Alabama needed a better version of Milroe at quarterback based on what they saw over their first three. Now, they’re starting to get that player based on the evolution that everyone, including Tebow and Harper, have seen in his game.
