The Fayetteville Super Regional was among the more anticipated ones as a matchup of top-sixteen seeds out of the SEC. However, the host school went on to win two games on the weekend to now advance to Omaha.

No. 3 Arkansas won the Fayetteville Super Regional at 2-0 over No. 14 Tennessee, with a 4-3 win on Saturday and an 11-4 win on Sunday, at Baum-Walker Stadium. That will send the ‘Hogs to the College World Series as one of the eight teams that will compete for the national title in the 2025 NCAA Baseball Tournament.

With that, Arkansas went 4-1 over this season against Tennessee after a 2-1 series win in the regular season back in mid-May. It also means the Volunteers, the defending national champions, won’t repeat in not making it back to Omaha.

Starting with the offense in the seven-run victory, Arkansas reached a 7-1 lead by the bottom of the fourth inning behind a two-run homer by OF Charles Davalan in the third and then a run scored off a wild pitch plus a grand slam by OF Logan Maxwell in the fourth. Their lead then reached its high of nine in the seventh with an RBI single from INF Wehiwa Aloy and a pair of walks with the bases loaded scoring three more for them. One last homer from INF Brent Iredale in the ninth brought the final total to 11 runs scored for the Razorbacks.

Then, defensively, Arkansas saw five on the mound, with LHP Cole Gibler earning the win for the outing. They posted an ERA of 3.62 with 10 strikeouts as a whole in holding the Vols to four runs, two of those being scored on a two-run home run from OF/INF Jay Abernathy in the second-to-last at bat of the game.

The ‘Hogs are now making their dozenth appearances in the Men’s College World Series. It is their seventh under Dave Van Horn with berths in 2004, 2009, 2012, 2015, 2018, 2019, and their most recent one in 2022. They’ll be coming looking for their first-ever national title, though, with the ‘Omahogs’ being the highest remaining seed left in the field.

Arkansas emerged victorious in the all-important Game 1 of the Super Regional, 4-3. Zach Root, despite going on an NSFW rant, was brilliant for seven innings. The Hogs are now one win away from getting back to Omaha, taking down an SEC opponent along the way.

The ‘Hogs got to Omaha in their win on Sunday with an all-around outing against the Volunteers. Arkansas put up double-digit runs, in large part to a grand slam from Logan Maxwell with three home runs total, while also pitching an outing with five on the mound where they had an ERA of 3.79 and allowed seven hits total. That eliminated the defending national champions and sent the Razorbacks to the College World Series for the dozenth time ever.
