Arkansas head baseball coach Dave Van Horn has been a model of consistency over the past two decades for the Razorbacks, developing the Hogs into one of the nation’s top college baseball programs. On Friday night against the Eastern Illinois Panthers, the Razorbacks had to play without one of their top stars, Peyton Stovall, and they still found a way to deliver their head coach win No. 800 during his Arkansas tenure.

When Van Horn spoke about the impressive milestone after the game, he was quick to shift the credit to his incredibly talented players over the years.

Arkansas got the win on Friday night after they were already leading 10-2 in the seventh inning. Then, Kendall Diggs blasted a three-run shot to center field, which finished the game. Since the Hogs had a lead of more than 10 points, the run-rule went into effect and that was the end of the matchup. The Razorbacks broke the game wide open by scoring six runs in the third inning. Arkansas finished the game off by piling on six more runs in the seventh inning.

This is his 21st year with the Razorbacks. Dave Van Horn has piled up a remarkably impressive resume during his time in Fayetteville. He’s won two SEC Coach of the Year awards. He’s built the Hogs into one of the nation’s premiere college baseball programs–leading them to seven College World Series appearances, 18 NCAA Tournament berths, two overall SEC titles, six SEC Western Division titles, and one SEC Tournament title. The Arkansas head man is one of only five head coaches in college baseball history with 300 or more SEC wins in their career: Ron Polk, Mike Bianco, Skip Bertman, and Tim Corbin.

Arkansas will continue their series on Saturday against the Eastern Illinois Panthers. That one is slated for Feb. 26 at noon.
