Report: Arkansas set to hire Maryland offensive coordinator Dan Enos to replace Kendal Briles

Arkansas isn’t wasting much time working to replace Kendal Briles as offensive coordinator. The Razorbacks are finalizing a deal with Maryland offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Dan Enos, ESPN’s Chris Low reported Wednesday night.
Enos previously worked at Arkansas as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2015-17 under Bret Bielema. Since then, he has made multiple stops as an assistant, working at Michigan, Alabama, Miami and Cincinnati since 2018 before latching on with Mike Locksley and Maryland in 2021.
With the Terps, he played a key role in the development of quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa, who announced his decision to return to the program on Wednesday. Maryland averaged 29.3 points per game in 2021 and 28.2 points per contest in 2022, and Tagovailoa threw for more than 3,000 yards both seasons.
Now, Enos is getting set to head to Arkansas, which is preparing to lose Briles to TCU after the departure of Garrett Riley to Clemson. It’s the latest chapter in his long coaching career, which started at his alma mater in the early 1990s.

Inside Dan Enos’ long career as a college football coach
Enos played quarterback at Michigan State from 1987-90 before breaking into coaching with the Spartans from 1991-94 as a graduate assistant. From there, he worked as an assistant at Lakeland (D-III) and Northern Michigan (D-II) before getting his first Division I opportunity at Southern Illinois from 1997-98 as the quarterbacks coach and wide receivers coach.
Following a stint at Missouri State, Enos moved on to become the quarterbacks coach at Western Michigan from 2000-02 and spent a year at North Dakota State in 2003. He headed to Cincinnati for his first stint with the Bearcats as quarterbacks coach from 2004-05 and returned to Michigan State from 2006-09 as quarterbacks coach and running backs coach.
Then, he got his first head coaching opportunity at Central Michigan, where he amassed a 26-36 overall record from 2010-14 and 18-22 mark in MAC play. He resigned after the 2014 season to become the Razorbacks’ offensive coordinator under Bielema.
