John Daly is one of the biggest personalities the sport of golf has seen over the years. Daly has won two major championships, winning the PGA Championship in 1991 and The Open Championship in 1995. Prior to this year’s PGA Championship, Daly joined The Paul Finebaum Show and set some serious expectations for the Arkansas Razorbacks football team this season.

Finebaum asked Daly how good he thinks Arkansas will be in 2022, and the icon responded by praising what Razorbacks head coach Sam Pittman has done.

“Don’t be surprised at how good we’re going to be,” Daly said of Arkansas. “Just don’t be surprised. I love what Pittman’s done, and we’ve got (KJ) Jefferson back. Just beware of the Hogs in football this year.”

Daly, a former golfer on the Arkansas golf team, clearly believes that the Razorbacks can leap into contention next season. Last year, the Razorbacks finished the year 9-4 overall and 4-4 against SEC opponents, picking up their final victory of the season in the Outback Bowl.

The PGA Championship is taking place in Southern Hills this weekend, and Daly made sure to sport some Arkansas gear. He was spotted driving a cart with Razorbacks pants.

Daly started the weekend off strong at Southern Hills, carrying a 2-under par score early in his first round. He then fell to a final first round score of 2-over par.

Even though Daly expects big things from Arkansas this season, he also understands that it isn’t easy to win in the SEC. He compared trying to do that to winning major championships in golf, saying that both are extremely difficult to do on a consistent basis.

“People go why didn’t you win more? Well, there’s still only like, under 30 people who have ever won two majors,” Daly stated, putting his career in perspective. “They act like it’s so easy to do.

“It’s like the SEC. People think it’s so easy to win football games. Well, it’s not. I mean, it’s hard. The guys are so good out there, the guys are so great on this champions tour.”
