Kani Walker injury update: Sam Pittman provides update on defensive back, others

Following a very scary injury to defensive back Kani Walker on Saturday against Ole Miss, the player is still working his way back into the mix. Head coach Sam Pittman provided an update on his status on Wednesday on an SEC teleconference call.
Walker was taken from the field in a stretcher. He was then transported to a local hospital.
But Pittman revealed good news for Kani Walker in the aftermath, noting he is in the process of recovering. That recovery remains ongoing this week.
“Kani would be the biggest question mark that we would have probably on the team, not just defensively,” Pittman said. “So he has not practiced yet and so we’ll have to figure out today, tomorrow, whether he can. If he can, obviously we’ll take him. If he can’t, then obviously we won’t. So that’s kind of still up in the air, to be honest with you.”
Kani Walker was hospitalized following a collision with a teammate Saturday. The defensive back appeared to hit his head and had to be taken off the field on a stretcher.

Pittman addressed his injury after the fact. The update was positive.
“Kani is good, thanks for the question,” Pittman said. “Kani came back with the team. He’s good, I don’t know whether he’ll be able to play or not right now, honestly. He’s been assessed, obviously, by the doctors and by Vance, but we’re just happy that he’s healthy, and going to be able to recover from all that. But I don’t know how fast.”
In other non-Kani Walker news, Pittman addressed the injuries to Quincy Rhodes and David Oke. News is also positive on that front.
“I think we’re going to be fine with David and Quincy, they both practiced full speed,” Pittman said. “I think we’ll be fine there.”
