Ryan Mallett posthumously among 8 new members of Arkansas Razorback Hall of Honor

Former Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett will be posthumously inducted into the school’s Hall of Honor, the Razorbacks announced Monday. He is one of eight former Arkansas athletes to be selected.
Mallett was born in Batesville, Arkansas and played high school football in Texarkana. He originally committed to Michigan out of high school but transferred to Arkansas ahead of the 2008 season.
He would go on to start the 2009 and 2010 seasons, leading the Razorbacks to a Sugar Bowl appearance as a senior. He ended his career in Fayetteville as the school’s leader in career passing yards with 7,493 in addition to 62 touchdowns, though he was later surpassed by Tyler Wilson and KJ Jefferson.
Mallett was a second team All-SEC selection in both of his seasons at Arkansas. He went on to be selected in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.
Mallett played five seasons in the NFL and had a 3-5 overall record as a starter. He retired in 2017 and later became the head coach at White Hall (AR) High School.

Tragically, Mallett died in 2023 after drowing at a beach in Destin, Florida, at only 35 years old. The memories he provided to the people of Arkansas live on, however, and now he will officially hold a place among the greatest players in school history.
The others set to be inducted alongside Ryan Mallett are football players James Rouse and Clint Stoerner, women’s track and field runner Makeba Alcide, men’s track and field runner Brian Baker, baseball player Zack Cox, women’s basketball player C’eira Ricketts and men’s basketball player Dwight Stewart. The ceremony will take place on Friday, Sept. 26, the day before Arkansas football is set to host Notre Dame at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
Players are elected into the Arkansas Hall of Honor based on a vote from former Razorbacks letterwinners. Athletic director Hunter Yurachek expressed his excitement for the ceremony and the chance to honor these great athletes.
“Every year it is a privilege to induct our Razorback greats into the University of Arkansas Sports Hall of Honor, and this year is no exception,” he said. “Our 2025 class represents individuals whose achievements, character and legacy have forever shaped the proud tradition of Razorback Athletics. It will truly be a fantastic weekend honoring them in September.”
