With a year at Arkansas under his belt, quarterback Taylen Green is looking to take his game to the next level. After the Razorbacks’ scrimmage on Saturday, head coach Sam Pittman raved about his QB1.

“He threw five or six touchdowns,” Pittman said. “He threw the ball really well, accurate. Ran the offense controlled like a second year guy that’s ready to go should. Two-minute drill, we didn’t, offensively, get down there and kick a field goal with either one of the offensive groups.

“But, other than that particular scenario, I thought Taylen did a really, really good job. And, I’m not saying that part was his fault either. I’m just saying, we need to move the ball down there and be able to score in a two-minute time.”

Arkansas fans have a fun season ahead of them if Green can throw five or six touchdowns on Saturdays this fall. Green transferred to Arkansas from Boise State last offseason and immediately made himself at home.

He started in all 12 games for the Razorbacks, amassing 2,813 passing yards and 13 touchdowns, compared to nine interceptions. Green’s arm wasn’t his only threat. He also recorded 521 yards and seven touchdowns in the ground game.

Green is one of just four returning starters on offense for the Razorbacks. Pittman didn’t take Green’s decision to run it back in Fayetteville for granted.

“He wants to be a Hog, he wants to play here, he wants to play for the state,” Pittman said. “And that’s nothing against the guys that got in the portal. It isn’t. Their business is their business, but it’s a big deal to me that he wants to stay here and run it back and stay with Bobby and stay with that offense. I think it will be so big and beneficial to him, and it will help us in recruiting as well.”

Arkansas experienced significant roster turnover this offseason. In total, the team lost 39 players to the transfer portal, including standouts such as offensive lineman Addison Nichols and running back Rashod Dubinson.

In turn, Taylen Green will have to find new ways to win with a roster full of fresh faces this fall. Nonetheless, he’s excited for the challenge.

“Just being really intentional and really urgent in what I do,” Green said of his goals. “Every single play and every single rep that I have, whether it’s good or bad, learning from it, and taking diligent notes in the film room.”
