Former Stanford cornerback Julian Neal has committed to Arkansas out of the NCAA transfer portal, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He played last season at Fresno State.

Neal was a reserve on the Fresno State defensive unit for the first two seasons of his college career before having a breakout junior season this past fall. He totaled 35 tackles, including 22 solo as well as five pass breakups, two interceptions and one sack.

Before college, Neal was a three-star recruit according to the On3 Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 1,460 overall recruit in the 2022 class, as well as the No. 79 player in his position that cycle.

Neal committed to Stanford out of the transfer portal earlier this offseason. However, he would re-enter his name into the portal during the spring window and make his commitment to the Razorbacks.

He joins an Arkansas team that finished the 2024 season with a 7-6 record, including a 3-5 record against SEC competition. The Razorbacks finished the season with a 39-26 Liberty Bowl victory over Texas Tech.

Sam Pittman analyzes where Madden Iamaleava stands in spring development

Iamaleava has been a hot-button name this past week across college football. In Fayetteville, though, it’s more so about one of the reserves at quarterback for the ‘Hogs.

Sam Pittman spoke on the progression of Madden Iamaleava, a true freshman quarterback, to this point of spring practice at Arkansas. He says that Iamaleava has come along well, especially since he didn’t participate in high school football last fall, with them expecting that to continue into this next season for the Razorbacks.

“Yeah, isn’t that something? I mean, he’s done really well, especially coming off his – you know, he didn’t play his senior year,” said Pittman. “Very mature. Well-coached out of high school. And, but, yeah, I think he’s made a ton of improvement and I think you’ll see that throughout the rest of the spring and then, you know, the summer and, and fall camp.”
