Auburn made a big splash on Friday, flipping yet another elite recruit from an SEC foe.

After flipping Phenix City (Ala.) Central five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman from Texas A&M, the Tigers moved up four spots to No. 11 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

The 6-foot-3.5, 185-pound Coleman is the nation’s No. 12 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the cycle’s No. 3 wide receiver and top recruit from Alabama.

“I’m close to coach Davis, coach Reed, and coach Freeze,” Coleman told On3. “They all check up on me every day to see how I’m doing and they plan on using me as a big body receiver, make big blocks and I’ll just do anything I need to.”

Coleman initially made a surprise commitment to the Aggies on July 4. But amidst a season that fell below expectations in College Station, head coach Jimbo Fisher was dismissed from the program.

Auburn adds to top-15 class

Coleman joins an Auburn class as its newest top prospect. The Tigers managed to flip a pair of elite recruits from its two biggest rivals in the span of three days at the end of July, flipping Clanton (Ala.) Chilton County four-star LB Demarcus Riddick from Georgia, then Foley (Ala.) WR Perry Thompson from Alabama. The Tigers collected six of their commitments in July.

Then, two more blue-chippers pledged to Hugh Freeze and Auburn: Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star IOL DeAndre Carter and Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star DL TJ Lindsey.

Then, Auburn made another splash with a flip in November — flipping Picayune (Miss.) Memorial four-star top-100 EDGE Jamonta Waller away from Florida.

“I love everything about Auburn,” Waller told On3 in November. “I’m ready to get there in January, learn from the staff and compete for a big position on the field early.”
