Auburn star wide receiver Cam Coleman was injured late in the first quarter on the road against Arkansas on Saturday. A Razorbacks defender appeared to fall on his right leg, leading to the standout being tended to by trainers on the field.

The hit came from behind as Coleman was attempting a block downfield. He limped off the field and was evaluated inside the injury tent on the Tigers’ the sideline.

Coleman let the medical tent early in the second quarter and was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain. He was seen running along the sideline, appearing to test out his leg or ankle in case he’s cleared to return.

“He’s doing everything he can to try to get back into this game,” SEC Network sideline reporter Morgan Uber said. “He’s been in and out of the tent, warming up, moving laterally, vertically, doing everything but you can see it in his face. He’s still experiencing pain. At points, he shakes his head no, and then at points, you see ‘yes.’

“So still some uncertainty on his return right now. But he wants to be out there and help this offense any way he can.”

Before leaving the game, Coleman had two receptions for 27 yards along with the only touchdown of the day at the time. He pulled off a highlight-reel one-handed grab over a Tigers defender to pull off the scoring play.

Coleman did not return during the first half. However, he was still testing out his ankle before the team hit the locker room. He was handed his helmet back, which appears to be a good sign that his injury isn’t incredibly serious.

Uber reported that he’s questionable to return, as they want him to be able to cut on the ankle with no issues. Coleman eventually returned to the game midway through the third quarter.

Fans can watch the second half as Auburn looks to comeback from a 21-10 deficit. Auburn will receive the opening kickoff of the second half when both teams return from break.

However, the Tigers may be heading into the second half with a new quarterback. Despite out-gaining the Razorbacks offensively, Auburn made the call to turn to backup Ashton Daniels in favor of Jackson Arnold who has started every game for the Tigers this season.

Daniels is a veteran transfer from Stanford and has backed up Arnold all season long. However, after a pick-six, they went with Daniels instead.
