The hot seat is on fire for Auburn Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze following Saturday’s loss to Kentucky. Now, former Tiger star turned analyst Cole Cubelic has shared a cryptic post, seemingly about the situation.

On Twitter/X, Cubelic posted a gif from Looney Tunes, which writes, “That’s all, folks.” It was a common way for those cartoons to end, implying that the end might be coming soon for Freeze and Auburn. Of course, he didn’t add any context for the post, so it’s all a bit vague as of now.

It’s possible that, given Cubelic works for ESPN and seems to have plenty of contacts within the Auburn program that he has some insight that isn’t yet public. If that’s the case, he may be hinting at a change coming in the near future. At the same time, it’s also possible that Cubelic is going based on the vibes around the program more than actual insider information.

Undeniably, the vibes are bad. Auburn only put up three points on Saturday, losing at home to a Kentucky team with a losing record. For Hugh Freeze, offense is supposed to be his strength. However, he’s consistently run into issues on that side of the ball, particularly the quarterback position, where the Tigers have now started multiple players this season.

The home crowd stayed after the Kentucky game to let Freeze know how they felt about him. Fans were chanting, “Fire Hugh.” It wasn’t just a couple, either, but thousands of fans who stayed to make their presence felt. Later, Freeze would address the fact that fans are now publicly calling for his job.

“I wish I could ask for patience but that’s not really something people want to give in this day and time,” Freeze said via Michael Casagrande of AL.com. “And I understand that. I just know that we’re so dang close and if we had a few things go our way earlier in the year, I think we’re looking at a whole different deal. But it didn’t and that’s life. And that’s the game of football.”

The Auburn Tigers are now just 4-5 on the season and 1-5 in SEC play. This comes after missing a bowl game just a season ago, while Freeze has never had a winning record in SEC play during the three seasons he’s been the head coach at Auburn. That pushes his record at Auburn to just 15-19 overall.

If Auburn were to move on from Hugh Freeze, he has a reported buyout of 75 percent of his remaining salary. That means that Auburn would owe Freeze roughly $15.4 million if he were to be fired at season’s end. It drops approximately $4.8 million annually.
