Former Oregon defensive linemen Jayson Jones announces transfer commitment

Jayson Jones has committed to the Auburn Tigers, according to his social media channels.
The redshirt freshman is from Calera, Alabama. He is listed at 6-foot-6, 320 pounds. He recorded 19 tackles this season and played in all 13 games for the Oregon Ducks.
Jayson Jones held offers from Georgia Tech, Jackson State, Miami, Missouri, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, and more since entering his name into the transfer portal.
The Auburn Tigers were always considered the favorites to land the big man who will immediately bolster a defensive line that is in need of help in the trenches.
In his second season with the Ducks, Jones was beginning to find his rhythm, recording five solo tackles, 19 total tackles, 1.5 sacks and 1.5 tackles for loss.
Jayson Jones was originally committed to Alabama coming out of high school and is now headed to the Crimson Tide’s rival in the SEC. Bryan Harsin has placed an emphasis on bolstering both the offensive and defensive line and this is a solid start.

Auburn looking to bolster defense next season
Bryan Harsin and the Auburn Tigers have already had plenty of turnover this season on the roster. Now, heading into the 2022 season, they will be without one of their star defensive backs.
Cornerback Roger McCreary announced he will be declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft recently. In addition, he will not be playing for Auburn in the Birmingham Bowl against Houston.
McCreary announced his decision via Twitter and penned a letter to his coaches and teammates. He also wanted to make sure to thank Auburn fans for supporting him throughout his career.
“Lastly, to my Auburn Family — your support these past three and a half years has been exceedingly unmatched,” McCreary said. “From packing out Jordan-Hare on Saturdays to welcoming a kid from Mobile, Alabama into this beloved community, I will forever cherish the moments that were created. What that, I was able to become a first-generation graduate student athlete, and that has always been a primary goal!”
