The matchup between Auburn and Coastal Carolina in the Auburn Super Regional has been delayed due to inclement weather. The game was stopped at 10:59 p.m. ET after lightning was spotted in the area.

At the time of the delay, Auburn was up to bat in the bottom of the sixth inning. Coastal Carolina currently holds a 6-3 lead over the Tigers. However, Auburn is chipping away at the Chanticleers’ lead, and scored a run in both the fourth and fifth innings.

According to The Weather Channel, the inclement weather isn’t expected to last longer than 11:30 p.m. ET. Thus, the two teams should stay warm and expect to finish the NCAA Tournament showdown tonight. As of this report, neither program has announced when the game will resume.

Update: The inclement weather has slowed in Auburn. The game is scheduled to resume at 12:45 a.m. ET. The game will air live on ESPN.

Although Auburn is beginning to chip away at Coastal Carolina’s lead, the Chanticleers have looked formidable throughout Game 1. In the fourth inning alone, Coastal Carolina exploded for four runs.

The batting barrage was highlighted by Blagen Pado, who hit a three-run shot in the fourth to cushion Coastal Carolina’s lead. The home run was Pado’s second of the game.

It’s been a stunning show for Pado, who entered the game with just six home runs on the season. The Chanticleers will need the sophomore standout to continue producing if they’re going to emerge victorious over Auburn in Game 1.

Louisville Super Regional also faces weather issues

The Auburn Super Regional isn’t the only one that’s been affected by weather on Friday. Earlier in the day, the Louisville Super Regional was delayed after bad weather swept through the area when the Cardinals and Miami were in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Louisville went on to win the game in emphatic 8-1 fashion. The Cardinals leapt out to an early lead and never looked backward. In the third inning alone, Louisville exploded for five runs.

The hitting barrage was highlighted by Jake Munroe’s second home run of the day, which was a three-run bomb. he finished the game with a team-high five RBIs. Munroe transferred to Louisville this past offseason after being named a 2024 NJCAA All-America Third Team at John A. Logan.

He hasn’t had any trouble adjusting to Division I play. Munroe boasts a .338/.455/.560 slash line this season, and has 57 RBIs. With the win on Friday, Louisville is just one victory away from making its first College World Series appearance since 2019.
