The Auburn Tigers are making a move on Oregon transfer defensive back DJ James, according to AuburnLive.

Auburn signed three cornerbacks in the early signing period – two high school corners and a junior college corner – but they may not be done yet.

“I’m for sure listening,” James told AuburnLive’s Jeffrey Lee. “Auburn is definitely an option. Definitely.”

Ole Miss, Miami and USC are some other options for the former Duck. He was the second Oregon player to hit the transfer portal after Mario Cristobal left Eugene for the Miami Hurricanes.

DJ James leaving Oregon

DJ James was pegged as a breakout player for the 2021 season by On3’s Joel Gunderson. He lived up to that, racking up 46 tackles, four pass breakups, and two interceptions for the Ducks. James snatched a game-winning interception this year against UCLA on the final drive of the game.

James found himself in trouble once he and Jamal Hill allegedly shot three people with an airsoft gun in early August. Mario Cristobal suspended both players indefinitely for the incident. James and Hill eventually returned, but they missed the Fresno State game.

In 2020, he appeared in all seven games in Oregon’s Covid-19 shortened season, racking up 14 tackles and one pass breakup.

As a high school prospect, James attended Spanish Fort High School in Mobile, Alabama. He was a consensus three-star prospect by all major recruiting services.

When he originally committed to the Ducks back in 2019, he made a flip from the Mississippi State Bulldogs. He boasted 18 scholarship offers out of high school–including Mississippi State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Alabama, and many others.

Hamm declares for NFL Draft

Brodarious Hamm – a 6-foot-6, 334-pound offensive lineman for the Auburn Tigers – has announced that he’s declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft. Hamm shared the news to his Instagram page on Thursday.

“Thank you to the Auburn Family for welcoming me with open arms,” Hamm wrote in an announcement graphic posted to his Instagram page. “It’s been an honor to play in Jordan Hare surrounded by your cheering throughout my years at Auburn. Through much adversity, I have overcome many obstacles to become what I envision is a true Auburn man. I am grateful for this experience and the relationships I’ve built along the way.

“After much thought, discussion, and prayer, I have decided to enter my name into the 2022 NFL draft. War Eagle forever.”
