The bird caught wandering into the Auburn baseball dugout during Monday’s victory over the Stanford Cardinal in the College World Series has become a sensation on social media since it appeared in the dugout during the sixth inning.

RHP Trace Bright has since declared it to be a rally bird – something that helped them overcome a tough Stanford team.

“They were playing, I was over there, front-row seat, somehow it managed to find its way in our dugout,” Bright said. “Maybe a little rally bird or something. But it seemed to work for us.”

From the sixth inning forward, the Tigers would outscore Stanford 5-1 – so maybe Bright is on to something. Unfortunately for Auburn, the bird won’t be present for the Tigers next game, as a local wildlife rehab facility has taken it in.

Auburn baseball bird being sent to local wildlife rehab center

The bird that flew into the Auburn baseball team’s dugout during their College World Series victory over Stanford Saturday is now being sent to a local wildlife rehab center, according to the NCAA Baseball Twitter page.

The bird has been delivered to a local wildlife rehab. Once he was taken out of the sun his condition began to improve as it seems it was unable to fly away – not because the Auburn baseball players were feeding it sunflower seeds and giving it water.

If one thing is for sure, Auburn is now undefeated in the College World Series when feeding a bird in their dugout, though head coach Butch Thompson claims he didn’t see the bird in the dugout.

Though, if the bird happened to be a Cardinal – would the reaction have been the same?
