Allen (Texas) High five-star defensive lineman David Hicks made the drive down I-35 on Saturday to attend Baylor‘s game against Texas in Waco.

Hicks is the No. 4 overall recruit in the On3 Consensus and the No. 9 overall recruit in the 2023 On300 rankings.

This is Hicks’ first visit to Baylor and third visit of the football season. He was at Texas A&M on Sept. 18 for the Aggies game against New Mexico and a few weeks later for their upset victory over Alabama.

Hicks also holds offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Clemson, Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Houston, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Prairie View A&M, SMU, Stanford, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, USC, UTSA and Washington.

On3’s Chad Simmons says Texas A&M is the early leader in Hicks’ recruitment.

David Hicks plays for national powerhouse Allen

Hicks played his first two high school seasons at Katy (Texas) Morton Ranch before leaving the Houston metro area to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

He moved to Allen this year because his father, David Hicks Sr., was hired by the school as a defensive line coach. David Hicks Sr. played in the NFL, CFL and Arena Football League.

Allen is coached by former SMU and Arkansas head Chad Morris.

David Hicks leads 7-2 Allen with 14.0 tackles for loss, 9.0 sacks and eight quarterback hurries. He has 52 tackles on the season.

Baylor has 2 commits in the 2023 class

The Bears already have two commits in the 2023 recruiting class: Post (Texas) High four-star linebacker Isaiah Crawford and Kingsville (Texas) H.M. King offensive lineman Justin DeLeon.

Crawford is the No. 212 recruit in the On3 Consensus, and ranks even higher in the 2023 On300 rankings at No. 186.
