Kerr Kriisa had a short-lived season, at his third program in five years, after fracturing his foot as a season-ending issue back in December. Now, at his next program, he’s officially back on the floor nearly seven months post-injury.

Per Cincinnati’s Wes Miller from reporting by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Kriisa is cleared coming off of his foot injury. That’s with him now being with the Bearcats after transferring there in the portal back in April.

Kriisa, a native of Estonia, has spent five total seasons playing college basketball at Arizona, West Virginia, and most recently at Kentucky. He, in 108 games with 94 starts, has averaged 9.3 points (37% FG, 36.2% 3PT on 2.3 makes), 4.6 assists, and 2.3 rebounds per game for those teams.

Kriisa had his best collegiate seasons over his final two seasons before arriving in Lexington, posting 9.9 points (37.2% FG, 36.6% 3PT on 2.4 makes), 5.1 assists as the leader in stat in the Pac-12 for a second straight year, and 2.4 rebounds in his final year at Arizona and then 11 points (42.9% FG, 42.4% 3PT on 2.7 makes), 4.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in his lone year with WVU. Then, in nine games played as a reserve after being one of several transfers to UK, Kriisa averaged 4.4 points (27.9% FG, 26.3% 3PT on 1.1 makes), 3.8 assists, and 2.4 rebounds.

However, in his lone start for the Wildcats, in place of Lamont Butler, against Gonzaga in Seattle, Kriisa would break his foot in the second half of what would be a 90-89 comeback win in overtime over the Bulldogs. He was originally out indefinitely, before his timeline had an update to six weeks, but never again played for the Wildcats per an announcement early in March.

Kriisa, with a medical redshirt clearing him for another year, then again entered his name into the portal following the season on March 31st as a Top-350 transfer and the No. 55 PG per On3’s 2025 Top Transfer Portal Players. Less than a week later, he committed to Cincy, finishing as the lowest-rated of six commitments to a Top-40 portal class according to On3.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Kerr to Cincinnati,” Miller said of Kriisa upon his signing. “We’ve played against Kerr multiple times over the last few years and know first-hand how much he impacts winning. He’s a relentless competitor that brings a wealth of experience and winning to our program. He has an elite basketball IQ and an infectious personality that Bearcats fans will love.”

Kriisa didn’t have the kind of season he had hoped for in one year in the bluegrass. He’ll try to have it instead an hour and a half north in Cincinnati now that he has official clearance to return the the court.
