Alabama right-handed pitcher Ariston Veasey commits to Clemson out of transfer portal

Alabama right-handed pitcher Ariston Veasey has committed to Clemson out of the NCAA transfer portal. He announced the news on his Twitter account on Tuesday.
Veasey spent two seasons with Alabama and had a fairly limited impact. He appeared in just six games total.
Five of those appearances came during the 2025 season, when Ariston Veasey began to make more of a difference. He went 3.2 innings and struck out six, but he also yielded six walks. He had a 9.82 ERA after giving up four runs on three hits.
Prior to that, Veasey made one appearance on the mound as a freshman in 2024. He did not record an out, walking the only two batters he faced.
But a fresh change of scenery could work wonders for Ariston Veasey. He’ll get that chance at Clemson, a program that has been on the rise in recent years under coach Erik Bakich.
Clemson loses a lefty
The addition of Ariston Veasey will at least partially help Clemson make up for another loss via the NCAA transfer portal. Like many programs, the Tigers have had their departures.

Clemson left-handed pitcher Ethan Darden entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. The junior’s decision comes shortly after being eliminated from the NCAA Tournament over the weekend.
Darden pitched 40.0 innings during the 2025 season, finishing the year with a 4-2 record and a 6.08 ERA. He appeared in nine games (all starts) before injuries took him out of the lineup down the stretch. He last played on April 12.
“He’s got a tricep thing and his treatment protocol, they want him to immobilize it with a brace,” head coach Erik Bakich said last month. “Nothing surgical, nothing serious.”
His abbreviated season was the least production he recorded during his time with the program. He arrived at Clemson as a long reliever during the 2023 season, but would move into the weekend rotation by the end of the season. He began the 2024 season in the bullpen before once again working himself into the weekend rotation. Darden logged 23 starts during his first two seasons with the program.
