Clemson defensive lineman Bryan Bresee spoke to the media Wednesday ahead of the 2023 NFL Combine in Indianapolis. The potential first round pick said he was in good health and looking for the week ahead.

“I feel great,” Bresee said. “I feel really really good. So I’m super excited.”

Bresee was the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

After three years a key contributor on the Tigers defensive line, he now looks to take his talents to the NFL. He is projected as a first round pick and could go in the top 10.

He is looking forward to showing scouts what he can do at the combine.

“Just going out to this combine competing, doing everything,” Bresee said. “Just showing everybody a healthy me out here. Just show them how I move, how I work, I think that’ll help me a lot.”

Athens police issue arrest warrant for Jalen Carter

The biggest news coming out of the NFL Combine is the Athens police department issuing a warrant for Georgia defensive lineman and potential No. 1 pick Jalen Carter on charges of reckless driving and racing.

The police department statement on the charges claims Carter was racing Bulldogs recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy in January on the night she and former Bulldogs player Devin Willock died in a car crash.

The charges were announced Wednesday about 30 minutes before Carter was set to speak at the combine. He did not speak to the media and later released a statement.

“This morning I received a telephone call from the Athens Georgia Police Department informing me that two misdemeanor warrants have been issued against me for reckless driving and racing,” read Carter’s statement. “Numerous media reports also have circulated this morning containing inaccurate information concerning the tragic events of January 15, 2023. It is my intention to return to Athens to answer the misdemeanor charges against me and to make certain that the complete and accurate truth is presented. There is no question in my mind that when all of the facts are known that I will be fully exonerated of any criminal wrongdoing.”

The NFL Combine officially starts tomorrow and goes until Sunday.

Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart also released a statement on the situation Wednesday.

“The charges announced today are deeply concerning, especially as we are still struggling to cope with the devastating loss of two beloved members of our community,” Smart said in a statement. “We will continue to cooperate fully with the authorities while supporting these families and assessing what we can learn from this horrible tragedy.”
