Clemson rattled off consecutive wins for the first time this season on Saturday at Boston College. The Tigers once again jumped all over their opponent, as they led the Eagles 34-10 at halftime. They eventually won 41-10. Last week, Clemson led North Carolina 35-3 heading into the break.

Although it looks like Dabo Swinney‘s team could finally be turning the corner, they did deal with an injury to cornerstone quarterback Cade Klubnik in the win over Boston College. Late in the third quarter, Klubnik suffered a lower-body injury and did not return. He was replaced by backup Chris Vizzina, who passed for 39 yards.

Prior to his injury, Klubnik was enjoying a solid performance. He completed 22/30 passes for 280 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Swinney gave an update on Klubnik’s health during a Tuesday media opportunity.

“He was just over with the trainers last night,” Swinney said. “He’s sore but he’ll be a little better each day. He should be hopefully ready to go.”

Swinney expects Klubnik to be healthy for SMU game

Through six games this season, Klubnik has completed 65.8% of his passes for 1,530 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions. After a rough start to the season, the senior quarterback has passed for eight touchdowns and just two interceptions in the last three games (2-1 record).

“Oh yeah,” Swinney responded when asked if Klubnik will be able to participate in practice this week. “He’s sore but again he’s expecting to play. We’re gonna be smart with him and we’ve got almost a week with him until game time. He’s played a lot of football. The main thing right now is him getting the plan down and then we’ll work into practice and be ready to go.”

Clemson opened the season with a 1-3 record for the first time in the Dabo Swinney era, but has now won back-to-back games to get back to .500. The Tigers have outscored their last two opponents 79-20 and look to be playing their best football of the season heading into their clash against SMU this weekend. These teams met in the ACC Championship Game last season, where Clemson came out on top 34-31 thanks to a game-winning field goal.

Both programs also reached the College Football Playoff, although that doesn’t look like the fate for either team this season. Kick-off for Saturday’s game is scheduled for 3:30 PM ET on ACC Network.
