Phommachanh served as the backup to Tigers starter DJ Uiagalelei throughout the 2021 season.
At one point Phommachanh was in a quarterback competition with Uiagalelei after the California native struggled at Pitt. However, Uiagalelei ended up starting all 13 games this past season.
Phommachanh missed the final two games of the season after being injured in the first half against UConn.
In addition to his passing stats, he also rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown.
