Clemson stayed hot Wednesday night against No. 22 Wofford, blasting the Terriers 17-4 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

Clemson is now 9-2 in its last 11 games, with six of those wins coming against ranked teams.

The Tigers are up to No. 31 in the RPI heading into a critical weekend series at No. 12 Louisville. Clemson has won back-to-back ACC series heading into this weekend.

“A great game. I mean obviously we’re playing pretty good baseball right now,” Tigers coach Monte Lee said. “Wofford came in red hot, a top 25 team. … Just a good day of baseball for us.”

Wofford took an early 3-2 lead on Clemson in the second inning, but it didn’t last long.

The Tigers score two runs in the first inning, three in the second, one in the third, four in the fourth and five in the fifth to take a commanding 15-3 lead.

Clemson added a run in the seventh and in the eighth and scored in all of its at bats but one.

The Tigers were once again led by Max Wagner, who continues to have an incredible season.

The sophomore was 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs and six RBIs against the Terriers.

Wagner got plenty of help from his teammates as Clemson finished with 17 hits, including five home runs.

In addition to Wagner, Cooper Ingle, Tyler Corbitt and David Lewis also homered for the Tigers.

Benjamin Blackwell, Ingle, Blake Wright, Wagner, Corbitt and JD Brock each had multi-hit games for Clemson.

On the mound, Clemson used six different pitchers. Jay Dill, Ty Olenchuk, Austin Gordon and Jackson Lindley each had scoreless outings.

Dill earned the win, pitching two scoreless innings to earn his first career victory.

“We pitched very, very well. The bullpen did an outstanding job,” Lee said.
