Clemson is not having the season on the field that it had hoped for, being 3-4 (2-3) coming out of October. That’s now having an effect off the field too, with two players having decommitted from the Tigers’ upcoming recruiting class just during this week.

However, Dabo Swinney didn’t have anything to say about those decisions while speaking to the media on Wednesday. The Tigers are moving on, regardless, when it came to that topic, when he was asked.

“Got no thoughts. Just, onward we go,” Swinney said. “Onward we go.”

Clemson lost a pair of four-stars over the past few days, with Blake Stewart on Monday and then Keshawn Stancil, who not only decommitted but flipped his commitment within the conference to Miami, on Wednesday.

Both players had committed to the program over this past summer. Stewart, coming out of the state of Georgia, is rated in the Top 400 overall and as the No. 35 safety in the class, while Stancil, coming out of North Carolina, is rated at No. 150 overall and the No. 15 defensive lineman in the cycle. That’s according to the Rivals’ Industry Ranking in 2026, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

With that, Clemson now has the No. 15 class in the country in Rivals’ 2026 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. It still features a total of 20 commitments, with half being ranked as four-star prospects and the other half being three-stars. Two of those are in the Top 100 nationally in Naeem Burroughs and Kentavion Anderson.

A program like the Tigers’ then does feel these losses more. That’s with the obvious emphasis on typical recruiting out of high school than that out of the transfer portal, with Swinney always having remained with a homegrown approach at Clemson. That was further evident as of yesterday in the writing of Tiger Illustrated’s Larry Williams.

However, Swinney already has enough problems right now with the team he already has, with Clemson having a losing record after the first two months in what’s been a disappointing fall in Death Valley. That’s why he had little to nothing else to add about those decommitments, as the Tigers move on regardless.

Swinney spoke to the local media on Wednesday evening, coming out of the second bye week for Clemson ahead of the Tigers’ next game against Duke on Saturday. Garrett Riley then did as well, along with TJ Moore, Will Heldt, and Ryan Linthicum.
