Dabo Swinney went viral on Tuesday for his comments regarding Clemson‘s 1-2 start to the 2025 season. Swinney pointed toward his track record and stated if Clemson is “tired of winning, they can send me on my way.”

This sparked reaction and debate across social media about his potential future with the program. Swinney has since revealed whether he’s been approached by Tigers AD Graham Neff or any of the athletic department’s brass in the wake of his comments.

“I just work in football, man,” Swinney said. “I don’t — I have no idea if anything’s viral. I don’t pay attention to any of that stuff. I don’t have a clue.

“I just come in here and do what I’m supposed to do, and y’all create whatever headlines you want from there. But I’m just focused on trying to get ready to play Syracuse.”

Swinney highlighted that under his guidance, the Tigers have won the ACC in eight of the last 10 seasons. In addition, Clemson has made seven College Football Playoff appearances since its inception in 2014. That includes two national championship wins in three seasons, and four trips to the national championship game in five years between 2015 and 2019.

However, Clemson has logged just one playoff appearance since then. That came last season after the Tigers defeated SMU in the ACC Championship game to secure their status in the CFP as the fifth-highest ranked conference champion. Clemson finished No. 16 after conference championship week at 10-3 overall and lost in the first round to Texas.

Now having lost two of its first three games, it will be an uphill battle for the Tigers to find themselves back in the CFP picture. They were the preseason No. 4 team ahead of Week 1 and have since fallen out of the AP Top 25 all together after losing to previously unranked Georgia Tech on the road.

Looking ahead, Clemson still has matchups against teams like SMU, Florida State, Louisville and South Carolina, among others, that could pose a threat to the Tigers down the stretch. For now, it appears Swinney and company are focused on improving their record back to .500 this weekend against Syracuse at home.

Kickoff between the Tigers and Orange is set for Saturday at Noon ET and will air live on ESPN. Clemson is currently a 17-point betting favorite over Syracuse in Death valley, according to BetMGM. The over/under is set at 54.5 total points.
