Four-star Clemson target DeMario Tolan has his decision date

CLEMSON — One of Clemson’s top linebacker targets for the class of 2022 is ready to lock in his decision.
Four-star prospect DeMario Tolan is announcing his commitment on Thursday, he revealed Tuesday afternoon. Tolan will make his announcement on CBS Sports HQ.
The Orlando, Florida, native is down to a final five of Clemson, Florida State, LSU, Miami and Tennessee.
Tolan was offered by Clemson on June 1 and visited the Tigers for camp later that week, working out for Tigers defensive coordinator Brent Venables and other Clemson staffers.
Tolan is rated as the No. 255 overall player in the country and the No. 27 linebacker nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
“They play big-time football and they are going to get the job done,” Tolan told 247Sports. “That’s a great place to help get developed as a man. The football just takes it to another level.”
In addition to Clemson, Tolan visited Tennessee, Auburn, UCF, Florida State, LSU, USF and Miami this summer.

DeMario Tolan and Kansas native Jaren Kanak have been Clemson’s top two linebackers targets in the class of 2022. Both players camped at Clemson on June 3. LSU is the favorite to land Tolan, according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball, while Clemson is the favorite to land Kanak.
It’s a busy week in recruiting for Clemson targets as the Tigers are also set to learn if they will land a five-star defender from Alabama. Defensive end Jeremiah Alexander is announcing his college choice on Thursday as well.
Alexander originally committed to Alabama last March, before decommitting in October. The Alabama native visited Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and UCF this summer.
Clemson currently has eight commits for the class of 2022, after entering June 1 with only four.
The Tigers currently hold commitments from quarterback Cade Klubnik, defensive end Jihaad Campbell, receiver Adam Randall, cornerback Toriano Pride, safety Sherrod Covil, kicker Robert Gunn and offensive linemen Collin Sadler and Blake Miller.
As things stand, Klubnik is Clemson’s highest-rated commit. He is the No. 64 overall player in the country and the No. 6 quarterback in the nation, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.
