The Clemson Tigers are looking to get healthy along the offensive line, but in the case of Elyjah Thurmon, it’s going to take a little bit more time. Head coach Dabo Swinney shared that he’s out for this upcoming week against Boston College.

Elyjah Thurmon missed the game against North Carolina after suffering an undisclosed injury in practice. Luckily, Swinney added that it’s not a long-term issue and he’s considered day-to-day by the team.

“He’s just kind of day-to-day right now,” Dabo Swinney said. “He’ll be out this week. But he’s not long-term.”

Elyjah Thurmon came to Clemson as a four-star recruit in the Class of 2024. A Bradwell Institute product, he was the 11th-ranked interior offensive lineman and the 173rd-ranked prospect overall in that recruiting cycle.

As a freshman in 2024, he’d appear in eight games and earn one start. That included 146 total snaps as a true freshman. However, in November of 2024, Dabo Swinney shared an unfortunate injury update on Elyjah Thurmon that would end up costing him time. He suffered a season-ending injury. Eventually, he’d be able to return to action in the offseason.

This season, Elyjah Thurmon has seen action against LSU, Troy, and Syracuse. However, he would also be forced to miss the Georgia Tech game before coming down with the injury issue that cost him the chance to play against North Carolina.

The injury to Elyjah Thurmon is the latest in a list of injuries that Dabo Swinney and Clemson have needed to address. In particular, the offensive line has been dealing with plenty of injury issues. In particular, Tristan Leigh has been dealing with his own injury issues so far this season. That’s two linemen who were expected to be key contributors who have been very limited.

It can be difficult to measure the success or failures of an offensive line statistically. After all, coverage sacks or a running back not seeing a hole can happen. However, and with that in mind, Clemson is 28th nationally in sacks allowed, giving up 1.20 per game. Then, the Tigers are 116th nationally in rushing offense, only gaining 110.80 yards per game on the ground. So, there is some room for improvement.

For now, Dabo Swinney is going to give Elyjah Thurmon more time to rest up and get healthy. Meanwhile, the Tigers are set to travel north to Boston College. There, at 7:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, they’ll take on the Eagles.
