Tigers wide receiver duo named 2021 players to watch

Clemson has become known as Wide Receiver U over the past few years.

The Tigers have produced NFL-ready wideouts such as Sammy Watkins, DeAndre Hopkins and Tee Higgins. Including the 2021 draft class, Clemson currently has 10 former wide receivers on NFL rosters.

So it’s no surprise the program is producing some of the best wide receiver talent in the college ranks. CBS Sports writer Chip Patterson released his list of players to watch for this upcoming fall and both Justyn Ross and Ajou Ajou made the cut.

Ross is still waiting on medical clearance to return to full-contact, but Dabo Swinney is optimistic he will be fully cleared next month. And with his expected move to slot receiver, he will be a huge matchup problem for opposing defenses.

For Ajou, he has the opportunity to become of one D.J. Uiagalelei’s top targets. In the annual Orange vs. White spring game, Ajou turned his athleticism into production. With a 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame, the Canada native is a great vertical threat for the Tigers to showcase on the outside.

Ross and Ajou have the most potential to become stars this fall. But Clemson has plenty of other wideouts who can burst onto the scene, such as E.J. Williams, Frank Ladson and Beaux Collins.

There’s a reason why Clemson is called Wide Receiver U.

Valerie Cagle journey from Delaware commit to Clemson softball star

Clemson begins its journey to the College Softball World Series this weekend.

The Tigers will make their first NCAA Regional appearance in program history when they play Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. against Troy. Playing in the Tuscaloosa Regional, Clemson will try to get past a tough Trojans team that is 36-15 overall this season.

A win on Friday night would send the Tigers to Saturday’s winners’ bracket game, where they would play the winner of No. 3 overall seed Alabama and Alabama State.

ClemsonSports.com senior writer Matt Connolly broke down Valerie Cagle’s journey to Clemson on Thursday. Clemson’s ace, Cagle was named the ACC’s Player and Freshman of the Year.
