Clemson quarterback commit rising up recruiting rankings
Class of 2022 quarterback Quinn Ewers made the decision Monday to enroll this month at Ohio State. Now the No. 1 overall player in the class of 2021, he will try to compete for the Buckeyes starting quarterback job.
Ewers’ decision moves Clemson quarterback commit Cade Klubnik up the national recruiting rankings. He is now a five-star prospect on 247Sports composite rankings. The rising senior at Austin Westlake (Texas) beat out Ewers in the Class 6A Division I state championship last season.
Klubnik was named the Elite 11 MVP last month and has shot up the rankings since then. He is also now the top-ranked quarterback in the nation per 247Sports.
The Clemson commit is an elite talent. He proved that at the Elite 11 Finals. And with Quinn Ewers off to Ohio State earlier than scheduled, the Tigers will benefit in the recruiting rankings.
Former Clemson offensive lineman placed on IR
The Dallas Cowboys have put former Tigers offensive lineman Mitch Hyatt on the injured reserve list.
Hyatt has been rehabbing from a knee injury that sidelined him for the entirety of the 2020 season. He signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent coming out of Clemson in 2019.
During his time with the Tigers, he was a two-year starter and four-time All-American. He left Clemson holding the school records for career starts and snaps from scrimmage.

Tigers hire first women’s lacrosse coach in school history
Clemson has hired its first women’s lacrosse coach in school history. Allison Kwolek, the former head coach at the University of Richmond, will take over the program
Tigers Athletics Director Dan Radakovich announced the hire on Monday. Earlier this summer, Clemson announced its plan to add women’s gymnastics and lacrosse. Lacrosse is scheduled to begin competition in spring 2023.
Kwolek went 64-16 with the Spiders, including two conference tournament and two league regular-season championships. Richmond was nationally ranked in the top-10 each of the last two seasons.
What you can expect from Clemson Sports, On3
With ClemsonSports.com officially joining On3, ClemsonSports.com now has a message board and will be bringing a full-time recruiting writer on board in the coming weeks. With a new site, beat reporter Matt Connolly penned a letter about what to expect.
I loved my time at The State newspaper covering Clemson and am proud of the work I did there for nearly six years.
With that said, there was one thing I’ve never had during my career that I’ve always wanted — a message board community and site to share with Clemson fans. There were plenty of times over the years when I picked up info or nuggets that might not have been worth a full story but that diehard Clemson fans would want to know.
