Former Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence holds youth camp in Upstate

GREER, S.C — Trevor Lawrence made a ton of memories during his three seasons at Clemson.
On Sunday, Lawrence returned to the Upstate and spent time with kids at his youth football camp, helping them make memories of their own.
Several hundred kids came to the MESA Soccer Complex in Greer for the 2022 Trevor Lawrence Youth Football Camp on Sunday.
The camp had two sessions — one from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and one from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Campers were grouped according to age, and each group got to work with Lawrence, in addition to local high school and youth league coaches.
“I’m really excited,” the former Clemson star said. “I remember being a kid and coming to camps like this. Just seeing all the kids driving up, they’re all so excited and I’m excited to spend some time with them.”
Lawrence, who is from Cartersville, Georgia, played at Clemson from 2018-20 and had one of the most successful runs by a quarterback in college football history.
He led the Tigers to the 2018 national title as a freshman and reached the College Football Playoff again in 2019 and 2020.

Lawrence not only enjoyed playing for the Tigers but also spending three years of his life living in the Upstate.
“It’s great. This place – Greenville, Clemson, Anderson, the whole area of the Upstate, it’s special to me. A big part of my life and who I am comes from spending three years here. It’s a really special place,” Lawrence said. “I love coming back. … It’s a special feeling. It’s kind of like a second home for me. It’s special being here, and just to have the support means a lot, knowing that they followed me in Jacksonville and all those things. It’s really cool. That’s what makes it special.”
Lawrence went to several youth football camps when he was a kid and said that it was fun to meet other kids and learn more about the game that he loves.
He had a simple message for those attending his camp on Sunday.
“My main message is just to have fun. A lot of these kids are young. Some of them are a little older. But we’re all out here to have fun,” Lawrence said. “I’m excited to meet them all. Sports is a special thing that unites everybody, no matter your age, race, gender, whatever it is. It’s a special thing. So I’m excited to be a part of that. Just having these kids out here, it’s going to be fun.”
