What's the IMPACT of Florida State Seminoles at Clemson Tigers? | Dabo Swinney, Mike Norvell

On Saturday, the Clemson Tigers will take on arguably their biggest ACC rival, the Florida State Seminoles. This season, the two programs have swapped places compared to recent history, with Florida State ranking at No.3 in the AP poll; whereas Clemson finds themselves just outside the top 25.

As the Tigers prepare to try and upset their rivals at home on Saturday, they have been doing so without the services of offensive lineman Walker Parks. Parks has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury and has been missing in action lately. But according to head coach Dabo Swinney, Clemson could get their star offensive lineman back just in time for the game.

“He’s (dealing with a) lower body,” said Swinney when asked about parks injury. “He did practice yesterday, and I kind of held him a little bit today. So, as I said, he’s been kind of day-to-day.”

So far, things have been trending in the right direction for Parks to play on Saturday against Florida State, per Swinney. And his presence on the field could be huge as the Tigers look to improve to 3-1 on the season and possibly rain on their rivals College Football Playoff parade.

Swinney says records don’t matter against Florida State

Clemson is going to come into the game as an underdog after having the upper hand in this series for the last few years. However, Swinney thinks that when these two teams meet, records and rankings don’t matter.

“Hey, this is Clemson-Florida State, none of that matters,” Dabo Swinney said. “It doesn’t matter what the record is. It doesn’t matter who won last year, doesn’t matter what you’re ranked. This is a game where you better show up. You better show up and be ready.”

Florida State has a 20-15 record all-time against Clemson. However, the Tigers have won seven games in a row in this series. Since Dabo Swinney took over at Clemson, the Tigers are 9-4 against the Seminoles.

“It’s certainly great for the ACC when you have a lot of competitive balance, like we have. Our league is really good. We’ve got a lot of good players and a bunch of great quarterbacks and we play every one of them. So, this is just another battle along the way. It’s gonna be a bunch of battles ahead, but Clemson-Florida State you can throw all that stuff out the records,” Swinney said.
