Colorado LB Mantrez Walker plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
Colorado linebacker Mantrez Walker plans to enter the transfer portal, per Max Olson of ESPN via the A&P Sports Agency. On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed the Buffaloes defender’s intentions.
Walker played high school football at Buford (Buford, GA), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 913 overall recruit in the 2025 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted algorithm that complies all major recruiting media services.
Walker did not accumulate any statistics with Colorado in 2025. Wherever he ends up next season, he’ll be hoping to have a larger impact and cultivate a formidable role in 2026.

More on the NCAA Transfer Portal
A big change to the transfer portal is that the 15-day transfer portal this offseason will be the only window, a difference from previous years. The NCAA opted to eliminate the spring transfer portal window for football, meaning this will be the only opportunity for student athletes to enter their names.
The move to a one-time-only portal is supposed to allow schools to finish their season with their entire team before the transfer portal opens. As has been the previous standard, athletes on College Football Playoff teams still playing would have 5 days beginning the day after their team’s final game to enter the transfer portal.
This season’s CFP semifinals are set for Jan. 8 and 9. The CFP national championship game is scheduled for Jan. 19 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Time will tell if we see any other Colorado players pop up on the wire before then, but it seems a bit inevitable in this day and age.
