Deion Sanders acknowledged he decided to remain at Colorado despite interest from a “couple” of times he received interest from other schools.

Despite the 4-8 record in his debut season in Boulder, Sanders re-energized what was considered a doormat program. A 3-0 start led to unprecedented buzz for a college football school like that in the modern era.

Now if it translates to more wins in 2024, it’ll be even more impressive. But that one season got Sanders on the map of some other schools, which he did not name.

“Couple of times,” Sanders said on Undisputed. “But I’m happy where I am as you see but I’m out there home shopping with the kids that means I don’t plan on going anywhere. I got a kickstand down. I love this fan base. I love looking out the window right now, these snow covered mountains, I’ve been snowmobiling the last two weekends … I mean loving life right now. My kids are snowboarding, Shilo, Shedeur, I’m telling him to take it easy … So we’re doing things that we would have never fathom. But I love me some Colorado.”

That’s where Sanders got a little more serious and explained why he would stay at Colorado and would not want to jump around.

“I don’t inherit a legacy. I build it,” Sanders said. “I’m not the kind of guy who will run off to somebody else’s school and inherit an already winning team that’s two to three games away. I inherited some bull junk and I’m gonna fix it.”

Heck, some even predicted Sanders would eventually just make the jump to the NFL. Maybe even the Dallas Cowboys, whom he won a Super Bowl with.

But, it seems like Colorado is the place for Sanders and he has no interest in the NFL.

“I’m old school,” Sanders said. “I’m not gonna say they’re too soft, but we might collide with the thought process of even getting to the game. My disruption is going to start on Monday when we’re watching that film of the previous game. Then we gotta flush that and then you’re off Tuesday. And so, I’m gonna give you off Tuesday, but that does that mean you don’t come in? What does that mean? Because if you wanna be great, most guys come in there.

“Then Wednesday — how you approach this new test, this new challenge. When we display the gameplan to you, are you tentative about that? Like here [at Colorado], every Friday I put up film times of the entire team. Who all watch film? So, if you don’t watch any film on that Friday, you ain’t playing. Because there’s no way you’re prepared, it’s no way you can help us because you aren’t prepared. … So, I’m old school to that aspect that I want unity, I want these guys to want this and on social media, you know we got that like button. I want a love button in this game. I don’t want you to like this, I want you to love this.”
