Deion Sanders health update: Colorado coach releases statement assuring 'everything is okay'

Deion Sanders provided a statement following the reports of an unknown health issue that caused him to miss summer camps with Colorado. But, Coach Prime mentioned he was excited to get back with his time.
“Wow, I am truly blessed for the abundance of well wishes, for all the thoughts and all of the prayers. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!,” Sanders wrote on Twitter. “I can assure you all that everything is OKAY and will continue to be so. God got me like no other. I have so much more work to do to Glorify God so please believe God got me!
“I’m excited to get back to Colorado to be at home with my staff, team & all associated to our program. When we arrive back to Boulder you will be updated on everything. Until then, I’M COMING BABY, #CoachPrime.”
Sanders enters Year 3 with Colorado after a successful 2024 campaign, leading the Buffaloes to the Alamo Bowl. He is 13-12 at Colorado and 40-18 in five seasons with them and Jackson State since 2020.
Deion Sanders Jr. addressed his father’s health during a YouTube livestream Sunday from the family’s palatial estate in Canyon, Texas, adding the elder Sanders was in his bedroom recovering.

“He’ll tell y’all soon enough what he going through, what he went through,” Deion Jr. said June 8 on the livestream, according to USA Today. “When we get back in Boulder, I don’t know. I’m waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I’ll go. Until then, I’m gonna sit here with him.”
Sanders also recently canceled a scheduled speaking engagement originally scheduled for Sunday because of an “unavoidable last-minute scheduling change,” according to The Foundation for Sickle Cell Research, which previously promoted Sanders as the foundation’s keynote speaker for its annual symposium last weekend in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The foundation replaced Sanders with Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson.
This isn’t the first medical situation Sanders has faced in recent years. The elder Deion Sanders missed a 2023 Pac-12 Conference media even in Las Vegas while dealing with recurring blood clots in his legs. Sanders previously had two toes on his left foot amputated and parts of his left calf removed in 2021 after a scary situation involving blood clots in his legs.
Big 12 Media Days are scheduled for July 8-9 in Frisco, Texas. The Buffaloes open the 2025 college football season Aug. 29 in Boulder against Georgia Tech.
