Deion Sanders points out 'questionable calls' against Colorado vs. Texas Tech

Deion Sanders is never afraid to speak his mind. On the Colorado Football Coaches Show on Thursday, the Buffaloes head coach criticized the officiating in Colorado‘s 41-27 win over Texas Tech on Saturday.
“First and foremost, there were some questionable calls in that game,” Sanders said. “I don’t ever question the officials. Shilo made a tremendous hit and there was a fumble and I asked them to replay it. And it was clearly a fumble. You look at that play, and we recovered.
“Little things like that, we got to have that, man. They got to do a better job. Not that they aren’t, but they got to see that. I’m pretty sure if it was on the other foot, they would’ve saw it.”
The play Sanders is referring to was Texas Tech’s first touchdown of the game, giving the Red Raiders a 7-0 lead. On the play, Texas Tech’s Jalin Conyers caught a 17-yard touchdown pass but just as he was about to cross into the end zone, Colorado defensive back Shilo Sanders delivered a massive hit on him.
The ball came loose and Conyers dropped it. However, the referees ruled that the football had already crossed into the end zone before Conyers dropped it. Upon review, the play was certainly closer to being a fumble than the officials acted.

The officials’ missed call in the first quarter wasn’t the only issue Deion Sanders took with the referees. He also seemed to have a heated exchange with the officials after Texas Tech fans threw tortillas on the field, temporarily pausing the game.
Of course, it’s worth noting that the referees weren’t completely against the Buffaloes. Later in the game, the referees missed a pivotal facemask penalty by Colorado’s Keaten Wade on Texas Tech QB Behren Morton, which would’ve given the Red Raiders a first down.
Despite any frustration Sanders had with the officials, Colorado ultimately pulled away with a comfortable win. On Saturday, the Buffaloes will look to add to their win streak when they face off against Utah at noon ET. The game will air live on FOX.
