Deion Sanders on Dan Lanning call out: He can take shots, they won

Dan Lanning has made his thoughts on the Colorado program known. Comments were made before the season began, in the week leading up to the game, and moments before Oregon ran onto the field. Lanning wanted to make a statement on Saturday afternoon and accomplished his goals in a big way.
Following the game, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders was asked about the pregame comments Lanning made. Maybe surprisingly, Sanders was not too upset with him. His logic was since Oregon won the game, Lanning was allowed to take shots against the Buffaloes.
“I got messages,” Sanders said during his postgame press conference. “God bless him, he’s a great coach. Take shots. They won.”
The pregame message from Lanning was a strong one. He called Colorado a Cinderella story but said it ended on Saturday night. Lanning was talking passionately with his team in the pregame locker room too, making his true feelings known.
“Rooted in substance, not flash. Today we talk with our pads… The Cinderella story is over. They’re fighting for clicks, we’re fighting for wins,” Lanning said.

While Sanders did say Lanning was allowed to talk, there was a message attached to it. He thinks Lanning should get it out of his system while Colorado is still a bit down. Sanders plans on having the Buffaloes a lot better in the near future.
“I don’t say stuff just to say it for clicks,” Sanders said. “On contrary to what somebody said. I keep receipts. But I’m serious. I analyze and I understand what we’re up against and what we need. One thing I can say, honestly and candidly — he better get me right now. This is the worst we’re going to be. You better get me right now.”
Unfortunately for Sanders, Colorado and Oregon will not be on each other’s schedules in the near future. The Buffaloes are off to the Big 12 next season, while the Big Ten will be the Ducks’ home. If there is any kind of matchup, it will have to come during the postseason or in a scheduled nonconference game.
If there is another game, Sanders will surely have his team ready to go. He likes to keep receipts and will make any kind of game personal. The next time we see Colorado and Oregon on the field, potentially with the two teams having an even roster, it’s going to be quite the affair.
