Deion Sanders has the pleasure of coaching two of his sons this season, but there’s one who makes him more nervous than the other.

Following Colorado’s thrilling 45-42 season-opening win over reigning national runner-up TCU, Coach Sanders has made the rounds on many popular sports talk shows. Labor Day morning, he hopped on FS1 to join Skip Bayless’ show Undisputed to discuss the win.

A few minutes into the interview, Bayless asked Sanders what it’s like to watch his son, Shedeur Sanders, play quarterback for a team he’s coaching. However, Deion answered that it’s watching his other son, Buffaloes safety Shilo Sanders, that really gets a reaction out of him.

“Well, it affects me more watching Shilo play defense,” said Deion. “Because, you know, I’m thinking like — C’mon man, like c’mon baby. Like hey, make a play! Make a darn play! — you know.”

Since Sanders played defensive back himself, he knows exactly what it’s like to be in Shilo’s shoes. Meanwhile, his other son is just calm, collected and consistent at QB.

“You know, Shedeur is right there. He’s just going rock steady the whole time,” said Sanders, noting that Shilo is the more fiery of the two on the football field.

“Shilo’s that emotional, he has those emotions like Richard (Sherman). That’s what he is. He’s up, down, he’s ready to bang. You know, he missed a couple open-field tackles. But he said ‘I’m alright, I got it. I know what I did. I got it. Don’t worry about it.'”

Despite those criticisms, Skip Bayless noted to Deion that Shilo Sanders “still led your team in tackles” in the TCU game. “Right!” responded Sanders. Shilo had 10 of them, which tied for the team lead with Marvin Ham II.

Then, of course, Shedeur put up some pretty impressive numbers on offense, considering he broke the single game record for passing yards at Colorado with 510. He shared the wealth too, hitting four separate targets for more than 100 yards.

Running back Dylan Edwards led the way with 135 receiving yards on just five catches, three of which went for TDs. Plus, he carried the ball six times for 24 yards and another score. Meanwhile, two-way star Travis Hunter got to 119, Xavier Weaver came in at 118, and Jimmy Horn was fourth-highest with 117 yards. That’s some crazy staff.

Not a bad debut with the Buffs for the Sanders family.
