Deion Sanders shares feeling with opportunity to compete for Big 12 title

Through five games, Colorado has just one loss to their name with a 4-1 record. Two of them have come against Big 12 opponents, with the Buffaloes being one of five teams to be undefeated in conference play early on. This puts Deion Sanders and his team right in the thick of a race for the conference championship.
When asked about being in the hunt for the Big 12 title, Sanders says everyone around the program expects to be in this position. Not many from the outside did heading into the season but Colorado certainly had confidence.
Sanders even brought up the Nebraska game again, saying they are still upset for losing to their bitter rivals. While that does not affect how Colorado fares in the Big 12, the overall point stands of the Buffaloes believing they should be competitive and winning every time they step on the field.
“We expect that,” Sanders said on competing for the Big 12 title. “Some of us are still upset about the Nebraska game. We wish we had that right now because we feel like we weren’t where we are then where we are now. We really expect that. It’s not being cocky, anything like that. It’s what we expect.”

If Colorado expects to be in the Big 12 race, then a big game is certainly set to take place on Saturday. Kansas State is coming to Boulder, one of the conference’s preseason favorites. Chris Klieman‘s squad also finds itself with a 4-1 record but dropped their Big 12 opener to BYU before responding against Oklahoma State. The Wildcats will walk onto Folsom Field as favorites by around a field goal.
Earning the upset bid would be a surprise for many but based on the comments from Sanders, not anybody inside the Colorado locker room.
Getting to 5-1 would already surpass the win total from a season ago and only drive up the outside expectations. Discussions of appearing in Arlington and AT&T Stadium would certainly begin.
