Rick George raves about Deion Sanders' early impact on Colorado football

Deion Sanders has yet to coach a down for Colorado football, but he made an early impact on the program.
Athletic Director Rick George took notice of Sanders, who made waves on social media with an inside look at the team. Of course, every program keeps certain things private, but Sanders and the Buffaloes had no problem showing off what they built so far.
George joined Pac-12 Radio on Sirius XM to discuss.
“Coach Prime was just engaging and the things that he does on social media and the way he interacts and engages with young people has been great,” George said. “I mean, let’s look at young people today. Right? Their medium for communication is the social media areas. You know, the Instagrams, the Tik Tok’s, the Twitter, probably things that I don’t even know that our student athletes go on. But young people are seeing that and they’re engaged in that. And so they want to see that. They want to see that and be out there on the social media piece.
“So is it too much? I don’t think it’s too much at this point, but it’s having a positive impact on interest levels that not only our high school and transfers are looking at, but also fan bases around the country.”

George was ecstatic about the Colorado fanbase with the Sanders buzz.
“I mean, our fan base, it energizes them, they want to see that on there,” George said. “They want to know what’s going on. So I think, you know, he’s kind of opened up our program to the public and I think that’s positive from my perspective.”
Jackson State went 27-5 under Sanders, including two consecutive SWAC Championships and Celebration Bowl appearances. But, Sanders and Jackson State lost last year’s Celebration Bowl but got another crack at the title Dec. 17 against North Carolina Central, an eventual loss.

“We’ve got a few positions already taken care of because I’m bringing my luggage with me. And it’s Louis. I’m coming,” Sanders told his team during his introduction. “Yea, the quarterback is coming. Yea, about 10 more of them are coming. They dogs. And they gone hunt. And they gone eat.”
