Shedeur Sanders discusses how he’s adjusting to FBS level after transfer

Shedeur Sanders and a number of Colorado players adjusted to the FBS level after transferring from Jackson State. Sanders is the big one to keep an eye though since he’s the son of head coach Deion Sanders and the quarterback.
But Shedeur Sanders did not let it phase him after playing at a high level in FCS. In fact, it’s just football according to the quarterback.
Simply put, Sanders is ready to compete.
“Competing is competing no matter what level you are,” Sanders said. “So it’s like, it’s nothing (I gotta) do different than I’ve done since day one of being in college to compete at this level. This is the same as football at the end of the day. There are things you can work on and things that you can improve but competing, that’s within you. You’re either gonna compete or you’re not.”

The expectations never changed for Sanders. Jackson State was one game away from an undefeated season in 2022.

It seems like it’s the same old story even in Colorado.
“I mean, expectations (were big in the) first college game of my career,” Sanders said. “So like each and every year there’s expectations. Like every time we step on the field, because you know, there’s my ability and who my dad is and the fact that we’re changing a Colorado program. So I will say it’s just another day in the life, like it’s normal. It’s another year that I’m going through.”
If anyone is a leader it’s definitely Sanders although Shedeur, unlike Deion, isn’t as flashy as his father.
“It’s nothing that you try to do,” Sanders said. “You don’t try to be a leader like it’s either you are or you’re not. I’m a different type of leader. I’m not with all the rah rah and all that type of stuff. I’m not that guy. I’m more of a laid back, chill guy. But when it’s more between the lines and when it’s time to put real work in, then it’s a different mode, it’s different. So it just depends like, I don’t force myself to be a leader. Leaders would just come and you will be able to see that when the lights go on.”
