Duke safety Placide Djungu-Sungu enters NCAA transfer portal

Duke safety Placide Djungu-Sungu has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. He played the past four seasons with the Blue Devils and will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Djungu-Sungu appeared in 26 total games across the past four years in Durham. He ends his career at Duke with 18 total tackles.
This past season was the most playing time he saw of his career as he played 10 games and 88 total snaps. He’ll now hope to find his way into an even bigger role wherever his next stop may be.
Djungu-Sungu played high school football at Martin in Arlington, Texas, where he was a three-star prospect. He ranked as the No. 1,034 overall player and No. 88 safety in the 2021 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Overall, Duke has lost 12 players through the transfer portal while adding nine. That ranks them as the No. 6 team in the ACC according to On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings.
The spring transfer portal opened Wednesday, April 16 and closed 10 days later on Friday, April 25. As of this writing, more than 3,900 FBS scholarship players have entered the transfer portal in the 2024-25.

More than 2,800 FBS scholarship players entered their names into the NCAA’s transfer database during the 2023-24 school year. Removing those who withdrew or went pro, the final total sat at 2,707 transfers. That means roughly 25% of all FBS scholarship players hit free agency in one year.

Utah transfer TE Landen King commits to Duke
Former Utah tight end Landen King has committed to Duke out of the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on social media on Monday. King began his career at Auburn.
King has spent four seasons at the collegiate level, splitting those years at both Utah and Auburn. His most productive career came during his first with the Utes. He recorded 14 catches for 166 yards and three touchdowns. Though, in 2024 he recorded three catches for 54 yards and one touchdown. He didn’t play his first game this past season until November.
He originally entered the NCAA transfer portal with a “do not contact” tag. A couple of weeks later, and he’s set to play his fifth season of college football with the Blue Devils.
