Miami suffered its fourth loss of the 2022 season on Saturday against Duke and the Blue Devils wasted little time rubbing in their 45-21 road win on social media.

The official Duke Twitter account tweeted a short video after the game celebrating the win with the caption: “Leaving South Beach with the DUB.”

The video was a shot of 329-pound offensive lineman Chance Lytle laying out in a beach chair with a cooler next to him. As the shot pans in, Lytle picks up the cooler and heads out, with the camera panning to waves rolling up on the beach.

Duke scored 17 unanswered points in the second quarter after Miami took an early lead. The ‘Canes battled back and went ahead early in the third quarter with a pair of quick touchdown strikes from backup quarterback Jake Garcia (the first a 71-yard touchdown pass to Colbie Young and the second a 34-yard touchdown strike to Will Mallory) before the Blue Devils took over for good.

Duke steamrolls Miami in fourth quarter

Duke took the lead with a touchdown late in the third quarter, then absolutely blew the game open by scoring 21 more in the fourth quarter. Miami gave up 28 straight to let the game get out of hand.

Duke trolls of Miami aside, coach Mario Cristobal didn’t mince words after the game, going after his team’s poor effort in the game.

“Someone stops playing hard, you’ve got to go play somewhere else. What we’ve got to do requires stuff people,” Cristobal said in his postgame press conference. To turn a program, rebuild it, requires tough-minded people that are willing to do the work. If that shows up on tape, you’ve got to find somewhere else.

“Some guys have played really well, some guys have played hard. We’ll go from there.”
