West Point (Miss.) running back Kahnen Daniels has been offered by close to 20 teams. Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State and some others gave him something to think about, but none like the Florida Gators.

On March 11, the four-star took his first visit to Florida. He had not had any communication with the staff in Gainesville before then. While in the Swamp, he met the staff, he saw the facilities and he left with an offer.

After visiting a handful of other schools, Daniels returned to Florida with some family members last week. The No. 311 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking spent Thursday and Friday showing those close to them why he was high on the Gators. By the end of the visit, they felt the same about Billy Napier‘s program as he did.

“We all had that same feeling,” Daniels told On3. “I knew after the first visit how I felt. I had let coach Jabbar Juluke know. After my family saw was I saw, felt the great hospitality and met the coaches, they gave me the go.

“I met with coach Juluke before we left and told him about my decision. On Sunday, I talked to coach Napier and told him too. Florida is the best school for me and I am excited about my decision.”

Daniels said there wasn’t a No. 2 school.

“Florida was different. I can’t really say who I picked them over. When I visited Florida the first time, I felt something different. Everything changed on that visit. Now I am committed.”

The first visit to Florida put the Gators on top for Daniels

Within a month, Daniels visited Florida twice. After offering Daniels, Florida’s staff made him feel like a priority. Not just coach Juluke, but everyone has made the No. 25 running back in the country feel right at home.

“The first visit was big for me,” Daniels said. “I saw the stadium, the facilities, the campus and I met the coaching staff… I fell in love. It was love at first sight. I was looking for that home feeling and I got that at Florida. They gave me that vibe. It wasn’t just coach Juluke or coach Napier. But I met the offense staff, the defensive coaches and they all made me feel comfortable. Florida has what I am looking for. My visits felt like I was at home.”

Daniels believes in the Florida coaching staff

In year one under Napier, Florida finished 6-7. He has his first full recruiting class in, he is finishing his second spring practice and Daniels believes in what Napier is building.

“I already see the team getting better,” Daniels said. “From my first visit to my second visit, I saw the running backs run, the team work hard and everyone getting better. The energy is great all over the place. What coach Napier and the players are doing will have them doing great things soon.”

Daniels feels like he fits right in.

“I love his offensive scheme. It is something I can thrive in. From the scheme to how the coaches take care of players, it is something I want to be a part of. It is great on the field and Florida has people there for all types of support. From football to mental to academics… Napier has great support for his players. I know the people there can help me be the best version of myself.”

He will spend the most time with Juluke. He already feels very comfortable around him.

“Coach Juluke just keeps it 100% real. He is honest and he reminds me of my high school coaches. We relate to a lot of things on and off the field. With coach Juluke, it is not all about football. I believe in how he can build me as a man, teach me to do things the right and help me lear more about life. We have a great connection.”
