At the NFL Combine, Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson got emotional while discussing his relationship with his family, specifically his mother and younger brother.

Richardson started by explaining his relationship with his brother, who he helped raise and clearly loves.

“If you ask a lot of people around Gainesville, I had a black little mountain bike and whenever you saw me on it you saw my little brother on the handlebars,” Anthony Richardson said. “I had to take him to school I had to take him to get food. You know, I had to get him dressed for school.”

“So, that’s my brother but I love him like he’s my son. I’m just glad that he’s a part of my life. I love him and I just can’t wait for both of us to live out our dreams.”

Anthony Richardson was then asked what he plans on doing for his mother with that first NFL paycheck.

“My mom, she doesn’t want me to do anything for her,” Richardson said. “Because she said it was her job as a mother to take care of me the way she did and I’m definitely thankful for her and I love her. You’re about to make me cry up here. But, I’m definitely gonna take care of my mom. Whatever she wants, she can have it. I don’t have anything in mind, but whatever she wants she just has to call my name and I got it.”

Mel Kiper Jr. on Anthony Richardson

Ahead of the NFL Combine, ESPN draft insider Mel Kiper Jr. gave his thoughts on Anthony Richardson.

“There are (many questions). And one year as a starter, Greenie. I mean, 13 starts, there are a lot of guys who would say… ‘No, you cannot take a quarterback in the first round, or that high in the first round, with limited experience at the collegiate level. The talent is off the charts. Whether he becomes a starter or not, he’ll be one of the top-three running quarterbacks in the NFL. He’s got the howitzer, he’s got the rocket arm,” Kiper said.

“But accuracy, seeing the field are things he needs to work on. Another year at Florida would have benefited him. But hey, if you’re going to be a top-10 pick, develop in the NFL, okay. So for Anthony Richardson, I’ve said boom or bust. The old cliche is what? Make your draft or break your heart — that’s Anthony Richardson.”
