Opelika (Ala.) 2025 four-star defensive lineman Malik Autry pledged to the in-state Auburn Tigers last February. A year later, he’s still a key member of Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class. But that hasn’t kept Autry from taking visits elsewhere.

Autry was in Gainesville on Saturday for a visit to Florida. Gators Online’s Corey Bender describes Autry as a “top flip target for the Gators.”

Autry visited Florida for two games this fall and he remains interested in the Gators despite the departure of defensive line coach Sean Spencer.

“Any school that loses your position coach will probably hurt them a little bit, but I still like Florida as far as coach (Billy) Napier and the coaching staff at Florida,” Autry told On3 in early January. “The city of Gainesville is a super nice place. I still like Florida, but I think it’ll be interesting to see who they hire as the new d-line coach. That will probably determine how much I still talk with them. As of right now, it’s still going pretty good. They’re still very interested in me.”

Autry is the nation’s No. 234 overall prospect and No. 22 defensive lineman in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 15 recruit in Alabama.

Autry remains locked in with Auburn

Despite taking visits elsewhere, Autry still remains committed to Auburn. He spoke with AuburnLive this week about his recruitment.

“Pretty good, man,” Autry told AuburnLive. “I am still taking a few visits, but for the most part, pretty good. I’ve been recruiting, head recruiter, taking on that role. I’ve been talking to Coach Garrett about every other day and Coach Freeze about two times a week. So, it has been good.”

Autry was on campus in Auburn for the Tigers’ junior day.

“It was good,” Autry said. “It was the first time it was just class of 2025. Usually, class of 2024 was getting the focus. It felt good just to be this class. We have some pretty good guys on campus, and I think we have some pretty good news coming soon.”
