On Thursday, Florida wide receiver Justin Shorter terrified the football world after being stretchered off the field in the Gasparilla Bowl. However, great news has come to light on Friday — Justin Shorter’s family released a positive update on the Florida wide receiver.

“We are happy to share that Justin is doing well, is clear to head home today and is on his way to a full recovery! We would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of prayers, love and endless support — he is going to be fine!” wrote the family of Shorter.

“Special thanks to everyone of the UF athletic staff and St. Joseph’s Hospital for their professionalism, care and support they have shown Justin and our family. Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday and a blessed 2022! Go Gators!”

After what looked like a devastating hit, Florida faithful sent their prayers and well wishes to Shorter and his family. Luckily, Shorter is in great spirits, and ready to spend Christmas with his family.

The Gators may not have won the Gasparilla Bowl, but all of Florida couldn’t be happier to hear the great news regarding Justin Shorter.

More on Justin Shorter

When Justin Shorter was being recruited out of South Brunswick, New Jersey, many expected him to become a premier wide receiver in college football. A five-star recruit, Shorter possessed immense talent and potential.

Originally, Shorter committed to and played for the Penn State Nittany Lions. In two years at Penn State, the star recruit never found his footing — catching 15 passes for 157 yards and no touchdowns.

Then, Shorter transferred to Florida prior to the 2020 season. In an offense more suited to his strengths, the five-star prospect showed his stuff. He set new highs in his first season with the Gators, catching 25 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns.

Afterwards, Shorter was expected to take on a bigger role in 2021 — but the season has been a disaster for the entire Florida offense. Still, the wide receiver put up decent numbers, amassing 550 yards and three touchdowns on 41 receptions.

Now, the world is waiting to see what Justin Shorter does next. Whether he returns to Florida under new coach Billy Napier or looks towards the NFL Draft, the football world will be happy just to see him return to the field.
