Florida‘s starting DE George Gumbs Jr. is ‘doubtful’ to play against Miami on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. He travelled to Miami with the team and will attempt to play, but the Gators don’t expect him to see the field during Week 4.

Additionally, Gumbs isn’t the only member of the defensive line that won’t play for the Gators on Saturday, per Thamel. DT Michai Boireau did not travel with the team down to Miami this weekend.

Saturday will be second consecutive game that Boireau has missed, while Gumbs’ injury has yet to be disclosed. It continues an injury trend for Florida’s defensive line to begin the season. Sophomore LJ McCray broke his foot during Week 2. They lost Caleb Banks a week later to injury, which required a procedure to fix.

Gumbs spoke with the media to begin the week, discussing the injury issues plaguing the Florida defensive front. Based on his tone, it appeared that he’d be full-go against the Hurricanes on Saturday.

“I feel like all our guys are still motivated, we’re a very close group so all the outside noise really don’t bother us,” Gumbs told the media on Monday. “It is what it is. We just got to come back in and get better, look at the film and keep it pushing. We still got a game to play Saturday.”

Kickoff between the Gators and Hurricanes is set for 7:30 p.m. ET live on ABC. The Gators are 7.5-point betting underdogs, according to BetMGM.
