A sworn complaint of first-degree felony sexual assault was filed against Florida basketball star Keyontae Johnson, according to court record attained by the Orlando Sentinel. The 22-year old senior has not been arrested at this time and the school’s athletic department is aware of the situation.

Johnson, who played only the opening tip-off of the Kentucky game this season due to a heart problem which derailed his basketball career, has also hired Gainesville attorney Ron Kozlowski. The lawyer released a statement on Friday defending his client against the accusations.

“I’m confident once the facts come out, no charges will be filed,” Kozlowski told the Orlando Sentinel. “Keyontae didn’t commit a crime, didn’t do anything wrong. That will be apparent once the facts are out.

“To me, it’s just shame a young man who has been through so much the past two years now has to deal with this.”

According to Fresh Take Florida, a new service at the University of Florida, the alleged sexual assault by Keyontae Johnson occurred on Feb. 26 at a party. Florida played Georgia on the road at noon, winning 84-72 that day.

Details of the alleged Feb. 26 incident were published by Fresh Take Florida’s TJ Legacy Cole. The report cites interviews and court records, saying police listed in on a phone call where Johnson acknowledged he had unprotected sex with the accuser after she consumed alcohol.

Johnson and his accuser were described as friends in the documents and the two previously had consensual intercourse within the past year. However, police said the accuser “made it clear” she did not want to have sex again, despite Johnson asking “multiple times.”

Police spoke with two witnesses who described the victim as “heavily intoxicated” on the night of the party. Police filed the sworn complain on Mar. 16 against Johnson.
