The future of Keyontae Johnson at Florida could be in doubt. According to Adam Zagoria of the New York Times, college coaches believe the talented forward could enter the transfer portal, despite medical concerns.

“There’s growing speculation from college coaches that Florida’s Keyontae Johnson might enter the Transfer Portal,” Zagoria tweeted on Saturday. “There are medical concerns attached to it but he’s a lottery level talent.”

Moreover, Johnson has yet to be cleared to return to playing basketball. Before last season, Edgar Thompson of the Orlando Sentinel said that until the possibility of a heart malfunction is ruled out, physical activity is out of the picture for Johnson.

Continuing, Johnson was part of a wonderful moment last season, when he entered the starting lineup for Florida on Senior Day. Although he is still unable to play basketball due to his diagnosis, the senior and former SEC Player of the Year favorite grabbed the opening tip before exiting the game, gaining an exuberant ovation from the crowd.

Over his college career, Johnson played in 71 games and started 55. He averaged 11.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game and shot 37.6 percent from the 3-point line over his three seasons. Coming out of high school, he was a four-star prospect per the On3 Consensus out of IMG Academy.

It’ll be interesting to see what Keyontae Johnson decides to do, and if he’s able to suit-up for a game again anytime soon.

While the medical clearance is a hurdle Keyontae Johnson will need to clear, there’s an off the court issue that came to light last month. A sworn complaint of first-degree felony sexual assault was filed against Johnson, according to court record attained by the Orlando Sentinel. The 22-year old senior has not been arrested at this time and the school’s athletic department is aware of the situation.

Since, Johnson has hired Gainesville attorney Ron Kozlowski. The lawyer released a statement last month, defending his client against the accusations.

“I’m confident once the facts come out, no charges will be filed,” Kozlowski told the Orlando Sentinel. “Keyontae didn’t commit a crime, didn’t do anything wrong. That will be apparent once the facts are out.

“To me, it’s just shame a young man who has been through so much the past two years now has to deal with this.”

According to Fresh Take Florida, a new service at the University of Florida, the alleged sexual assault by Keyontae Johnson occurred on Feb. 26 at a party. Florida played Georgia on the road at noon, winning 84-72 that day.
