Steve Spurrier addresses his son's future at Florida after Billy Napier firing

Billy Napier is not the only coach at Florida likely to lose their job. Plenty of others will be affected, from high-level assistants to those who are low on the staff totem pole. Offensive analyst Steve Spurrier Jr. is one of them, spending this season with the Gators.
While Spurrier has not spoken on his future directly, his father did address the situation on Monday’s episode of Another Dooley Noted Podcast. Most of the comment was generic talk about what comes with getting yourself into the coaching world.
“Well, who knows,” the elder Spurrier said. “Coaching is a profession — these guys, they’ve got to keep their contacts all over the country because there’s going to be openings at a whole bunch of places. So, you go where the job is. It’s been here for the last four, five years. It’s just the way it is. Stay flexible, that’s what coaches do.”
Spurrier joined Napier’s staff after previously being the Tulsa offensive coordinator. Multiple other SEC schools have been called home at one point or another since getting his coaching career started in 1994. Mississippi State, Oklahoma, and South Carolina all employed Spurrier at one point.
Locations may have changed but getting a job for Spurrier has never been an issue. Different variances in the hierarchy of the respective program certainly are on the resume. However, Spurrier remains a football lifer to this point.

Right now, all he can do is take his father’s advice to be flexible. Five more games remain for Florida in the 2025 season, returning on Nov. 1 for the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party against Georgia.
RGIII calls for Tim Tebow to be next Florida head coach
Plenty of big-time names figure to be involved in the Florida coaching search. Lane Kiffin appears to be quite a popular man at the moment, even as Ole Miss continues a great season. However, Robert Griffin III provided a potentially out-of-the-box candidate for the Gators. He wants them to call upon a program legend to take over.
“I think they should hire Tim Tebow,” Griffin said via the Dan Patrick Show. “If Tim Tebow goes into any home in Florida, those parents aren’t saying ‘Yep, sign me up. I’m coming.’ You got to put a great staff around him… I’m not saying Tebow would take the job. But if I’m Florida, I’m trying to do that because you need that level of exposure.”
